Jack Massey’s extensive travels
in Italy have been an inspiration for his work. In particular
he cites Roman and Etruscan tomb paintings as influencing his
recent work in collage. He employs a variety of materials and
works “in bunches” to present architectural floor
plans, linear aspects, and color. He works to create work with
“a strong, but quiet presence.
Massey received his Bachelor’s degree
from the Carnegie Institute of Technology and his Masters degree
from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He has exhibited across
and in Italy. His work is housed in many private and public collections
including the Carnegie Institute, MIT and the Philadelphia Museum
of Art.
